The Haiku Competition is over...

The Lucky cat.
Remember that last month I bombarded you with Haikus? Well, today I was notified that I had been awarded the place of notable runner-up in Best For Film’s Hollywood Haiku competition!

If I'm honest I have to say that I'm a poor loser (probably the worst) and I really wanted to win the Blu-Ray player. But applying the Pollyanna way of thinking I must say that I'm very honored to be among such distinguished runner-ups like FlickChick, Brandie from True Classics & Caftan Woman (2nd place!). * Humbly bows to their coolness*

Oh, please read ClassicBecky's take on this news (check the footnote, I almost peed).

From the Haikus I sent, the guys from Best For Film picked the one about From here to eternity. You can read that one and the rest selected poems here.

And finally here's the list of the 15 Haikus I wrote for this contest, in case you missed one or want to re-read them or send them to print :)

#1: A star is born
#2: Laura
#3: Breakfast at Tiffany's
#4: Morocco
#5: Dinner at eight
#6: From here to eternity
#7: Bringing Up Baby

#9: Leave her to heaven
#10: Splendor in the grass
#11: Cool Hand Luke
#12: Mildred Pierce
#13: His girl Friday

I haven't post a haiku since Tuesday, so here you are:

"Luke was that great guy,
with honest smile and blue eyes,

 shot for being...Luke."

"I'll give my daughter
everything she wants: clothes, cash,
power...what? my man?
"

Haiku #10: "Splendor in the grass"

I found this movie kind of weird, I know that the times have changed, but everything was sooo dramatic and the poor girl ends with a nervous breakdown and everything.

Just a quick notice: tomorrow I'll make a special post, so stay tuned!

"The conclusion is,
my dear friends, that abstinence
can drive you crazy.

let's kiss on a bench
