Hey guys, I don't know about memorabilia and prices, so maybe you could help me out here. The other day I visited a flea market and like in the first store I found a box with old Chilean cigarette cards of Classic Actors. I stood there and started selecting. The guy said that he would make a discount if I bought 70. Here are the 70 cards I picked:
I paid 33 dollars for them. What do you think? Too much?
That's roughly $2.12 per card. I don't know much about cigarette card memorbillia, but I don't think that seems like a bad deal :)
ReplyDeleteHi Clara - You ought to check with Cliff Alperti, @IEphemera on Twitter and his Bing Crosby blog is a CMBA member. He deals in memorabilia and has for 10 yrs. -and he sells the cigarette card collections regularly.
ReplyDeleteHi Clara,
ReplyDeleteDepending on the card and condition, rarity, and subject matter cigarette cards can go for $30-$60 each! I think you got a fantastic deal with a wonderful selection.
Welcome to the collectors club. : )

I think you have a wonderful find, Clara! I'm guessing that these are probably fairly rare, and they certainly seem to be in nice condition!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback, girls! And thanks for the interesting info, seems that it was a good buy after all :) Maybe I should get a few more :p Oh, I'm following Cliff now, The Lady Eve, thank you :)
ReplyDelete70 card for $33 dollars. Don't know anything about these cigarette cards, but for that price I would buy these all day long. Seems like a great find. Buy more next week. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou got them for a dealer's price - 47 cents each ... and as I dealer I'd gladly take them off your hands and double your money right now.
ReplyDeleteThe Chilean cards are rare though because of demand I don't get much more for them than I do for more common cards, the difference is they're an easier sell when priced right. Plus they're an attractive issue if in nice shape.
Final verdict: Great buy!
PS: And if you want to flip them for a profit I'm totally serious, feel free to contact me.
