Continuing with the Classic Movies References In Modern Films (sorry if you didn't get it from the title, but I had to shorten it someway...So, for the next posts, remember what ClassicMovieRIMF means), now I present you a clip from a movie I saw when I was a kid and I re-watched this week: Harriet the Spy.
Starring Rosie O'Donnell and Michelle Trachtenberg (never saw her in anything again), the movie is about a girl that loves to investigate and write down everything what she sees or hears, which brings her problems.

In this clip, the classic movie shown is...Mata Hari (1931). The best thing about this scene is that they seem to be having a blast at the cinema. Just press play and watch till the end, it will start in the interesting part.
Hope you enjoyed. Wait for the next ClassicMovieRIMF!

I remember watching this as a kid and carrying around a notebook to write everything down in. Michelle has been in Gossip Girl and some Indie movies since Harriet the Spy.
ReplyDeleteLOL, yeah, Harriet is really an inspiration for the people like us who love to write :) Oh, and yeah, I noticed on IMDB that Michelle worked in some series, but don't watch them. Thanks for stopping by, Kalli!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the reference! I saw that movie in the theaters when I was little. I wanted to have a notebook just like Harriet.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea/didn't realize they referenced "Mata Hari" in the movie! I have to admit, as a little kid I'm not sure if I would have found it terribly interesting though haha
jnpickens: LOL, I didn't even remember the scene! Seems like Harriet was an inspiration for all the kids of our age that became bloggers :) Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!
ReplyDeleteI read the book as a little girl and loved it, so when the movie came out I was very excited. Strange, I have not seen it since, but I remember being slightly disappointed ( isn't that how it always is when books you love get turned into movies? )
ReplyDeleteLove the reference, though :)
Leehee: Thanks for stopping by! I never read the book, but yes, there are some parts of the movie that seemed not very well-developed, like the reconciliation with her friends...It's fun anyway, I love the musical they present to her parents :) Hope to see you around again :)
