Caught a cold: sick people in classic films

Guys, just a quick post to apologize! The day of THE auction of the century I stayed up late and caught a cold. I was in bed since then, today is the first day I'm feeling a bit better. So, I decided to make a post of classic movies showing sick people...but people that recovers, not dying people like Camille or Beth in Little Women.

Just press play to go to the interesting part!

The Apartment: poor C. C. Baxter caught a cold!

The Shop Around the Corner: Mr. Kralik (James Stewart) visits sick Klara...

The Nun's Story: Audrey has TB and a cute monkey + Peter Finch to take care of her...

Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison: Drunk Mr. Allison scared Sister Angela and now he needs to save her...

I remember mama: One of the kids of a poor Norwegian family is sick and the hospital doesn't allow visitors...Mama Irene Dunne won't take no for an answer...

Sullivan's Travels: Joel McCrea caught a cold and is pissed off...

Which scene featuring sick people do you remember the most?

  2. So sorry to hear you've not been well but glad that you're feeling a bit better now :)

Oh gosh, when Irene sneaks into the hospital to see her sick kid! She has to be one of the best film Mum's ever <3 My mind is going blank for film scenes with sick people. The only ones I can think of are the ones where people actually die!

  3. Oh no, feel better! Not getting enough sleep has always certainly made me feel sick as well :/
Another movie where someone gets sick is Jennifer Jones in "Since You Went Away" when she gets the mumps and recovers. Also there is Maureen O'Sullivan in "Pride and Prejudice" who catches a cold after riding her horse in the rain to the Bingley's house (but she also did that on purpose haha)

I can't really think of any sick people in classic film at the moment--I guess I'm drawing a blank.

  6. I hope that you feel better soon! Jack Lemmon always makes me laugh. The Apartment is one of the first classic films that I watched and I love it!

  9. Aww, thanks Jessica, I'm almost recovered by now. Yeah, I stayed up late near a window watching the auction on the computer and down here is freezing (is chilly in Chile you could say), so obviously I caught a cold. Oh, you're right, I totally forgot about that scene in "Since you went away"! And yeah, Maureen (I don't remember the name of Austen's character) was totally trying to get sick in "Pride and Prejudice", LOL :) Thanks for the feedback, Jessica!
