In 1951, Marlon Brando received this letter from a 13-year-old girl from Marshalltown, Iowa:
Mr Brando,
I know how hard it must be with all those photographers and reporters chasing you around, so if you would like to come and stay at my home, my family would like you to come and stay as long as you like.
Marlon never answered. Anyway, five years later, the girl would be picked by Otto Preminger to play the leading role in Saint Joan: she was Jean Seberg.

As a collector of autographs from the Silent era to the 1940's I've studied autographs and the stars who signed versus a secretarial pen and Brando was notorious for NEVER signing an autograph. Theres tons of his autograph floating around and all but a select few are forged. Like Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor he was very private and he just would not sign anything fan related. Which is great in a way because when you do come upon one they are highly collectible. Happy hunting my fellow fans.

Thanks for that interesting info Page. I have also noticed that male actors in general used the typewriter instead of writing down the letters. The girls prefer handwritten letters.
